John Wilkinson Press Release

DickersonBakker Names John Wilkinson                                                          Senior Vice President of Fundraising Solutions

Veteran fundraising strategist brings more than two decades of direct response experience serving leading nonprofits and faith-based organizations.

Raleigh, NC – DickersonBakker has announced John Wilkinson as Senior Vice President of Fundraising Solutions, adding more than 20 years of nonprofit fundraising and integrated marketing experience to the firm’s senior leadership team.

Wilkinson has spent his career developing and executing direct response fundraising strategies for nonprofit organizations across a wide range of causes and markets. His experience includes work with some of the nation’s most recognized nonprofit brands, including the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and Ronald McDonald House Charities, as well as local and international organizations in human services, evangelism, conservation, and membership.

His background is particularly well aligned with DickersonBakker’s longstanding work with faith-based and human-services organizations. Throughout his career, Wilkinson has served organizations addressing homelessness, hunger, and addiction, including dozens of gospel rescue missions and food banks.

“John understands both the strategy behind strong fundraising programs and the day-to-day realities nonprofit leaders face as they work to grow them,” said Andrew Olsen, President of DickersonBakker. “He has spent more than two decades helping organizations build direct response programs that connect with donors and generate sustainable results. That combination of experience, strategic thinking, and familiarity with the kinds of organizations we serve makes him an exceptional fit for DickersonBakker and the direction we are headed.”

Wilkinson joins DickersonBakker as the company continues expanding its Better Way to Fundraise® approach, which emphasizes stronger donor relationships, integrated fundraising strategy, and sustainable long-term growth. The approach is also the focus of CEO Derric Bakker’s #1 bestselling book, A Better Way to Fundraise®, and the Better Way Champions thought leadership community.

As Senior Vice President of Fundraising Solutions, Wilkinson will provide leadership, strategic direction, oversight, and coordination across DickersonBakker’s full range of direct response fundraising services. He will lead the firm’s account, creative, digital, media, data, and production teams to help nonprofit partners strengthen their fundraising programs and grow.

“I’ve spent my career working with organizations whose missions matter deeply and helping them build fundraising programs capable of sustaining that work,” said Wilkinson. “What attracted me to DickersonBakker is the opportunity to bring that experience into a team that is challenging some of the conventional thinking in our industry. The Better Way puts the donor relationship back at the center, and I’m excited to help our clients put those principles into practice and grow.”

Wilkinson’s appointment comes as DickersonBakker continues investing in the leadership and infrastructure needed to serve a growing portfolio of nonprofit organizations. The company has expanded its capabilities across fundraising strategy, digital, media, creative, analytics, capital campaigns, executive search, and grant services while maintaining its focus on helping nonprofits build stronger, more effective development programs.
