Meet Our Team Monday: 10 Questions with Christina Moore

We are excited to start 2018 off with a brand new edition of “Meet Our Team Monday.” This week we are featuring Christina Moore, Vice President of Client Services here at DB&A.

Over the past three decades, Christina has worked to advance the missions of local, national and international nonprofits making her a thought leader in the nonprofit advancement space and an invaluable asset to the Dickerson, Bakker & Associates team.

We sat down with Christina and asked her 10 questions to get to know her better. Let’s see what she had to say…

Christina Moore, Dickerson Bakker & Associates Meet Our Team Monday

What did you do before joining Dickerson, Bakker & Associates?

I was the Chief Development Officer for Open Doors USA. Open Doors serves persecuted Christians worldwide in more than 60 countries, empowering and equipping Christians who are suffering for their beliefs.

Where did you go to college?

Whitworth University for my BA in Sociology and Regent University for my MPA.

How did you hear about Dickerson, Bakker & Associates?

I was first introduced to Dickerson, Bakker & Associates when I was sourced for a search being conducted through DB&A Executive Search & Recruitment. After being sought out for a couple different searches, DB&A’s VP of Executive Search, Ron Infinger, thought I would be a good fit for the Dickerson, Bakker consulting team and introduced me to Derric. The rest was history…😉

What made you decide to come work for Dickerson, Bakker & Associates?

For a couple of years, I had been attracted to the DB&A “way” of doing things, including recruiting.  The people, strategic and analytical emphases and frankly, the way Derric thinks about fundraising, was natural and aligned with who I am as a fundraiser.  I also wanted to work for a company where I could learn from a group of peers, which is most certainly a huge benefit at DB&A.  And then there’s the fun!  I mean, who wouldn’t want to work for a boss that hosts team meetings on his back porch in front of a fireplace?

What do you look forward to most when starting to work with a new client?

I love to hear how God has called his people to serve the Kingdom in so many different and interesting ways for so many different and interesting reasons.  When someone is passionate about what they do, I get passionate.  I want to empower God’s calling on their lives.  Really often, that translates into support and development of Christian leaders. I love to provide counsel and encouragement during a leader’s journey because I know that leadership is both hard and even lonely sometimes.  To be there as a sounding board, an encourager and an honest supporter is such a joy – and that is MY leadership calling.

I also really enjoy the analysis side of an initial engagement.  For me, it’s fun to read an organization’s story by looking at their numbers and identify key areas where an investment would produce a healthy return.

What is one goal you hope to achieve with a client when starting a new project?

My goal is for my clients to learn how to think well – not just traditionally –  about fundraising.  Ultimately, I feel successful when they start saying and doing things that are healthy,  productive practices because THEY recognize the need to do so.

What is your favorite part about being a part of Dickerson, Bakker & Associates?

My favorite part about being a DB&A consultant is that I get to serve and empower what God is doing through people and organizations across the ministry spectrum, from Christian higher education to international development.

What’s the best/craziest thing that has happened to you out in the field?

I’m pretty certain that I’ve met a few angels while on the road – His traveling mercies are real!  There have been so many moments when I have seen extraordinary acts of kindness, mercy, service or wisdom and I will walk away wondering, “Was that a person or a different kind of helper?”

What is one thing about you that might surprise people?

I study Krav Maga. Krav Maga is an effective, modern and dynamic self-defense and fighting system. It combines the most effective techniques and philosophy from various martial arts and fight training. I want to seem like a gentle soul but if push comes to shove, I’m a little bit fierce!

What is there anything else you’d like people to know?

Not that I can think of right this minute but, if anything changes, you’ll be the first to know!😉
